This infrastructure is part of the Centre de Recerca en Sanitat Animal (CReSA), from the Research Institute for Technology, Agriculture and Food (IRTA), and located at the campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in Bellaterra (Barcelona, Spain).
Main objectives of CReSA are research, technological development and transfer, as well as education in the field of animal health and all its consequences for public health.
The High Biosecurity Laboratory (NSB-3) of CReSA comprises a total of 4,500 m2, with space for laboratories (350 m2) and animal boxes (1,150 m2) able to harbour animals of different sizes (from rodents to large animals). All activities are being performed under good laboratory practices (GLPs) and following European guidelines.
