ICTS are infrastructures with unique facilities, which are offered as service to the national and international scientific and technological communities.

ICTS offer a percentage of access of their capacities and essential services by means of a regime of “competitive open access” for their use by researchers from both public and private bodies, national or international, and counting with the support of technical and administrative personnel of the ICTS.

The access to the ICTS is regulated by a public “Access Protocol”, which describes the mechanism and access criteria to use the infrastructure. The “competitive open access” is characterized by contrasting the quality of R&D activities developed in the ICTS, as well as for the priorization of access applications based on objective criteria.
